Brought to you by The Reading Agency. Learn more

Reading Sparks is for 14 – 18 year olds. It takes place in libraries or through youth organisations and is a free space for you to explore, create and play.

You work with your library and local community to create activities based on children’s books. For Reading Sparks we particularly love children’s books with science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) themes, and there are loads of different themes to explore – from books about very small insects, to books about very big planets, and everything in between.

The activities you create could be digital, such as films, podcasts or songs, or hands-on workshops where children get to make or do something related to a book. It depends on where you want to take Reading Sparks and what you want to explore.

Once you’ve completed your Reading Sparks activities, send us a link and we can add it to this website. That way the authors and illustrators who have made the books, and people working in STEM, can see your own ideas about their work.

There's a place for everyone in Reading Sparks - find out more about what you might want to do with our Personality Quiz.
